It was time for BYU to decide what they wanted to do from a blue perspective. The royal blue, while having more historical precedent, is also the more visually appealing choice. Football changes the double stripe on the helmet to a Northwestern stripe to match the rest of the uniform, and the addition of the first modern royal blue helmet. Jerseys and pants stay nearly identical, while black alternates are dropped. Hockey pulls from football’s design with sleeve and hem stripes, Oval Y on the home and away jerseys, and striped pants and socks. A throwback-inspired alternate features heavy sleeve striping and a block Y on the pants. Baseball keeps things clean with sleeve stripes, Cougars script on home and away jerseys, NW stripe on the pants and socks, and a pinstriped alternate with stirrups. Basketball maintains its classic look, adding NW stripes around the arms, keeping the stacked wordmark, and retaining the mountain design on the short, with Danny Ainge era throwbacks completing the look.
